It's not everyday you get asked to dog sit whilst you're trying to pay for your food shop.

The supermarket can be a strange place, that sometimes brings out the worse in humanity. There's always that one person who thinks the trolley is a bumper car, and the debate around whether you can rock up to Tesco in your dressing gown always gets heated. But one woman faced an unusual request when queuing up at the tills, after a woman refused to put her pooch on the floor as it 'didn't like the feel' of the tiles. We wish we were joking.

Taking to Mumsnet, the anonymous shopper explained how the woman in front of her was struggling to unload her trolley onto the conveyor belt. She had a small Pug under her arm that was 'wriggling around' and didn't appear to be too happy. "She asked if I could hold the dog so she could pack her shopping properly in her bags. I said no," the post reads. "She said she couldn't put the dog on the ground because it didn't like the feel of the floor under its feet.

"I still said no. She then took absolutely ages making a point of packing her shopping with one hand. At the checkout. While holding a dog." The woman added that when checkout staff informed the woman of their no dog policy, she replied with 'well that's why I'm carrying her'.

Hundreds of baffled users took to the comments section, with an overwhelming majority slamming the woman for her 'inappropriate' and 'cheeky' behaviour. In fact, only one person said they would have held the dog.

"I love dogs, but as a matter of principle I would have said no too. I don't think they should be in shops. Cheeky f****r," one person fumed. Another agreed, commenting: "I'm a dog person, but this is crazy people behaviour. I can't believe she got all the way round Aldi unchallenged."

While a third added: "Now that is bat shit! I love dogs, so probably my would have said yes but then put it on the ground so it learns to walk on its own two feet ffs." A fourth even suggested putting a complaint into 'head office' to see whether the store would get involved. She described the woman as a 'gross specimen'.
