Fortnite has brought back Medallions for Chapter 5 Season 2, but things are a little different this time around. Here's what Medallions do this season, and how they differ from the last set.

Fortnite's latest gimmick for Chapter 5 is the medallions, which were introduced to the game back in Chapter 5 Season 1. By beating specific bosses on the map, players are able to pick up medallions from them which will in-turn buff your player. However, as a trade for these buffs, your rough location will be shown off to every player in the game, with it getting more and more precise as you pick up more Fortnite medallions.

In Chapter 5 Season 1, no matter which medallion you picked up – be it Oscar's, Nisha's, or Peter Griffin's – it would regenerate a players shield. For Chapter 5 Season 2 however, Epic Games has changed the Fortnite Medallions so that each specific medallion will give players a different buff.

Just like in Chapter 5 Season 1, to get Fortnite Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 2 you'll need to take down bosses. This time around, these bosses are literally Greek gods as opposed to dads from animated sitcoms that stopped being good 20 years ago – so you'll need to bring your A-Game.

Fortnite Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 2: locations and effects

While the Fortnite Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 1 were known as the 'Society Medallions', the new batch are known as the 'Aspects of the Gods' and will imbue you with godly powers when you pick them up. The following is the full list of Fortnite Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 2, which boss you get them from, their location, and the effect that it gives you upon picking it up.

  • Aspect of Speed – Zeus (Mount Olympus): players can run faster and jump higher when sprinting
  • Aspect of Siphon – Hades (The Underworld): players will be able to heal by siphoning health from enemy players upon eliminations
  • Aspect of Agility – Cerberus (Grim Gate): players will have access to Underworld Dash without needing to swim in the river in The Underworld or Grim Gate
  • Aspect of Combat – Ares (Brawler's Battleground: players will deal increased damage with ranged weapons

As you can see, the Fortnite Medallions are a touch more valuable this time around; anyone who manages to pick up all five should be nigh-unstoppable on the battlefield. Of course, the more you have, the more of a target you'll become, so if you're taking the risk, be ready for a scrap.
