When it comes to cars, unless you sit down and read the whole manual cover to cover, there are likely things you haven't realised about it.

Whether it's learning how to adjust your steering wheel, or finding out there's a way to make your windscreen clear faster, it feels like every day is a school day when you're learning about your vehicle.

And people are only just realising that there's a handy 'secret' button on seatbelts - and the reason for it may just blow your mind, as people on social media are stunned. You use it every day you get into your car, but you likely had no clue it existed.

TikTok user @epiccfacts often shares videos with little-known tidbits of information that people perhaps do not know - but people were shocked when he shared the information about the seatbelt button. He said: "The little button on your seatbelt is to stop the buckle from going past it. So it will always be in the right spot when you go to buckle it up." This means that when you get in your car, thanks to the little button that sticks out, your buckle will sit around halfway down the seatbelt so you don't have to faff around trying to find it when you're trying to buckle up.

Some people said learning this "blew their mind" and someone even penned: "Wow, it stops your seat belt from sliding down!" Others were not as impressed with the hack, however, with someone writing: "Bro the button on the buckle is literally common sense. Everyone knows that", and someone agreed: "Everybody knew about the seatbelt one", with others labelling it as "obvious."

Whether you realised its function or not, we're all more than aware of how important buckling up is when you get into the car. A resurfaced safety advert from the 1990s has recently left people horrified, and questioning how it was ever allowed to air as it's so shocking.

The 1998 advert, which allegedly caused seatbelt use to rise by 23% according to Think, is still haunting people to this day, with many remembering the way it made them feel at the time - and the general consensus was that it mortified people into putting their belts on.
