Dame Barbara Windsor's widow Scott Mitchell revealed he will "shave his head" if £1million is donated towards dementia research.

The iconic EastEnders actress died aged 83 in December 2020. In 2014, Barbara was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and initially didn't share the news of the condition with the public until 2018. In 2019, her husband Scott and her former EastEnders co-stars announced they would be running the London Marathon in aid of a dementia campaign.

She and Scott became ambassadors for the Alzheimer's Research UK charity. Last April, Barbara's co-stars raced in the marathon for Babs' Army. Scott has continued to campaign for dementia research and appeared on This Morning on Monday to discuss the condition.

New host Ben Shephard asked if he and his girlfriend Tanya Franks were considering taking part in another marathon to raise money for charity. Scott said: "I've already said, 'This is it and I'm not doing another one.' Look, there's only one way I can do it and that's if for next year's marathon, there's someone out there with some excess money or a company that wants to give £1million to Alzheimer's Research UK, I will do another marathon... And I will shave my hair off."

A shocked Ben asked: "You'll shave your hair too?" to which Scott laughed: "That's the big one." EastEnders star Tanya and Scott bonded over their commitment to running the London Marathon in support of dementia research before a romance sparked between them.

Speaking of finding love again, Scott told The Sun: "Life feels really good right now," before adding: "We are enjoying some special time together." The Rainie Cross actress and Scott went public with their romance last year, with the former understanding Scott's eternal loyalty to Barbara.

Earlier this year, he revealed: “I got into a new relationship last year. I’m very happy, she’s a wonderful lady who knew Barbara and is very understanding. It can’t be easy to be with someone who was the other half of Barbara Windsor, especially the fact that I still put myself out there and talk about her.

"So, it says to me the type of person that Tanya is, that she can deal with that. She’s very sure of herself as a person. Just because you’re not with someone for whatever reason, it doesn’t mean to say that you just switch off some valve of love. There’s always going to be a place for Barbara in my heart. I might turn the TV on and suddenly she’ll be there and it takes my breath away sometimes, because I’m not expecting it.”
