Robert Downey Jr 'angry' with Jimmy Kimmel over Oscars joke about his manhood
Robert Downey Jr had one hell of a night at the Oscars – but is he walking away with more than just an Academy Awards?
It was thought the Iron Man actor was left fuming after Sunday night's star-studded host Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at his manhood. The TV talk show presenter made two brutal quips in Robert's direction as he was seen shrugging it off live on-air.
He later won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, with experts now weighing in on Jimmy's jokes despite his success. Body language expert Judi James tells The Mirror the gags aren't all as they seemed.

Robert seemed fuming about Jimmy's crass comments (ABC)"Robert's two emphatic blinks, one head tilt and a shoulder shrug were his body language response to Kimmel's penis joke," Judi explained. "There was no grinning or signals of taking the banter under the chin from Downey, unlike other stars who had performed overkill laughter to pretend to be good sports.

"Was Downey really mad though? Since Ryan Gosling performed his now-classic 'meme' facial expression at the Critic's Choice Awards it's become a 'thing' for celebs to choose deadpan facial expressions as a joke when the camera is on them, or even to mime seething anger if the camera picks them up when they hear they haven’t won."
Judi says that Robert appeared "deadpan" and did "look annoyed", but explained that his features were "softened, not puckered into any frown or hard stare and the woman beside him is laughing, suggesting this reaction was a bit of a joke in itself".
Finishing her analysis, she concluded: "Downey is known for his sense of humour and the way Kimmel’s eyes flick back to the autocue quickly to check as he delivers this joke suggests it was all totally scripted, not ad-libbed. Kimmel's comments before the penis line were flattering Downey's looks so Downey could have been waiting for this punchline and his face probably got more laughs that the joke itself."
Jimmy had been ripping into Robert about his previous substance struggles in his opening monologue, saying: "This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr's long and illustrious career...well one of the highest points..."
As the live cameras switched to see Robert's reaction, the MCU star touched the tip of his nose, leading Jimmy to ask: "Was that too on the nose or was that a drug motion you made? " Likely sensing the tension, Jimmy quickly moved on to compliment the actor saying: "Look at this guy, he's so handsome, so talented."

Robert won Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer (Getty Images)But things soon took another turn as Jimmy stuttered: "Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?" Taken aback by the cheeky comment, Robert shocked fans as he simply shrugged.
"Robert Downey Jr if you want to Will Smith slap Jimmy Kimmel I don’t blame you," one Twitter (X) user joked as the awkward moment aired, with another adding: "robert downey jr is absolutely going to k*ll jimmy kimmel." A third declared: "I usually love Kimmel but those Robert Downey Jr jokes were cheap as fuck. Not cool. #TheOscars."
