One eagle-eyed Oscars viewer caught onto how Emma Stone was less than pleased about a joke host Jimmy Kimmel made about Poor Things.

He made a swipe at the film, claiming they couldn't show most of the clips on air because they were "not safe for work." Then the camera panned to Emma Stone, who fans believe mouthed an insult directed at the host.

"Emma Stone calling Jimmy Kimmel a 'p***k' after he insinuated that Poor Things was only about sex," they tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter, along with a video of the moment.

Some fans had other theories about what she said. "I'm convinced she said 'what a wanker,'" one wrote. "I thought she said, 'oh my God,'" another said. "I think she said, 'Barely...' Like they could barely show it on TV," a third wrote.

Others felt that Emma may have been overreacting, if that's in fact what she said.

"that’s not what he was insinuating at all. there were a lot of sexual scenes when bella was first discovering herself (and even after she had found herself) so he’s not entirely wrong abt available clips being limited," one wrote. Another added: "that's not what he insinuated at all only that there is a lot that isn't SFW , which is totally true"

During his speech, he congratulated Emma for being a five-time Oscar nominee. "Emma, you were so unbelievably great in Poor Things. Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child. Like the lady who gave the rebuttal at the State of the Union the other night.

This year's Oscars boasted 24 categories, giving it the title of one of the most wide-ranging film awards, and sometimes it can boost the fortunes of a small movie with just one nomination. This year is no exception, with the German war drama The Zone of Interest, which focuses on the daily life of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss as he tries to build a life with his family next to the concentration camp. The critically-acclaimed movie has been nominated for Best International Feature Film, as well as Best Sound, which is the award it won at the BAFTAs last month.
