Strictly's Amy Dowden debuts incredible blonde hair transformation

Amy Dowden has showed off a cute new hairstyle, just weeks after telling fans that there is "no trace" of cancer in her system.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 33, posted a cute selfie video to her Instagram stories showing off a new blonde crop. Her short hair - which is regrowing after she underwent chemotherapy for breast cancer - has been coloured from her natural brunette to blonde.

The Welsh professional dancer added underneath the video, in which she gazes and smiles into the camera, "just a bit of fun". At the end of last month, Amy was a guest on The One Show, where she told Alex Jones about hitting the important health milestone. Alex said: "Oh we have been worried sick about you. But good news last week about your cancer treatment." Amy replied: "Yes, there is no evidence of disease. I can't get the all clear for about five years but words I dreamed of.

Alex added: "Amy I am so pleased for you. My goodness, you have been through it over the last six months. It is good to see you and you look fantastic." Amy replied: "Oh thank you so much." The dancer then shared her upcoming TV show - Amy Dowden's Dare to Dance - where she helps make people's dancefloor dreams come true.

Amy revealed she was diagnosed with cancer while filming the new show and called on her fellow Strictly stars for help. "They came to the rescue because I did get diagnosed with breast cancer whilst we started the series. I gave them a call and it was a lovely surprise for each of the contributors as well. It was brilliant," she said.

Amy was told that she had breast cancer in May 2023, and then after having a mastectomy, she was told by doctors that she had a secondary cancer, which she continued to be treated for until recently, when she was told there was no evidence of disease.

She made sure to tell her fans, posing on Instagram: "NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet! I won’t be getting the all-clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.

"So grateful for all the care I received and continue to have. To my husband, family and friends who supported me unconditionally and to you guys! Thank you! I will still need a monthly injection for 5 years and regular check ups. Chemo and this past year has certainly took its toll on my body both physically and mentally, so I’ll be taking the next few months to heal and recover.

"I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance at life! Something I know not all get. I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever! Cancer affects too many so I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness and make sure I get as many as I can to #checkthemselves. It’s time to look ahead after what’s been the toughest year, and one I certainly didn’t expect!"

At the start of February, she told her followers that she was pleased to see her hair was starting to grow back. In. video, she said: "It's been a little while so I thought I'd show you my hair growth. Makes me happy to see the difference and looking back. It's coming."
