Hazim Al-Bajouri, a dad of three, was killed near a bus stop on June 12 last year. A court heard Cyle Crowley, 19, plunged a knife into the 43-year-old dad's chest after Mr Al-Bajouri and an associate went to his home to buy drugs. Crowley's pal Khalil Henriques, who was his housemate, and Carl Dunning helped him escape and the court found them guilty of assisting an offender.

Crowley of Hockley, West Midlands, was given 17 years in jail for manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court A jury had cleared him of murder. Henriques' involvement was to try and cover up the evidence. He put Crowley’s jumper stained with the blood of Mr Al-Bajouriin in the washing machine, but it was later discovered by police because he hadn’t turned the machine on.

A trial heard how Crowley had called on his father for help as Al-Bajouri lay dying at a bus stop nearby. His dad swapped clothes with him so he could run away from the house.Crowley's dad even went to the bus stop, where paramedics were battling to save the victim, and pretended that he knew nothing about the stabbing, the court heard.
