At a rally in Georgia, Donald Trump attempted to criticise US President Joe Biden but ended up getting Russian President Vladimir Putin's name wrong, calling him "Poten."

Trump was expressing his view on how things would be different if he were still president amidst the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflicts. "When Trump was president," he said, "There were none of these problems." He also suggested that he could have prevented the Ukraine war with a quick call to "Poten".

In an amusing turn of events, at the end of the rally, Trump seemed to struggle with his own speech in what some may see as signs of aphasia. He asserted, " Israel wouldn't have been attacked and Russia wouldn't be fighting with Ukraine. I know 'Poten' very well."

A user named Virginia on X, previously Twitter, speculated that Trump's speech mix-ups could be a sign of dementia. Being 77 years old, she argued: "Not the first time Trump has fumbled in speech while mocking Biden's speech. Trump's problems with language are telling and significant. He demonstrates semantic aphasia and phonemic paraphasia, both signs of dementia, not normal aging."

Top mental health experts around the globe have been suggesting that Trump appears to be emotionally and mentally unwell, possibly even a sociopath or psychopath, since at least 2016.

Sadly, these predictions have repeatedly proven to be true during Trump's administration, the COVID pandemic, his deliberately negligent response to widespread death and suffering, the coup attempt on January 6, the attack on the Capitol by his MAGA warriors, and now, several years later.

As he ages, the pressures of his numerous criminal and civil prosecutions, as well as the 2024 presidential campaign, seem to be making Donald Trump worse rather than better.

In an interview, Salon reporter Chauncey Devega spoke to Dr. John Gartner, a renowned psychologist who contributed to the best-selling book "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President," who recently said that Trump seems to be rapidly losing his cognitive abilities and becoming "hypomanic" based on his speech, memory, recall, and other behaviours.

Last week, Donald Trump showed similar signs during his speeches and interviews at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and other places. Chauncey and Dr. Gartner had another chat on Tuesday about Trump's recent behaviour and what could happen if his apparent mental health issues get worse.

"The diagnostic signs are not subtle. My warnings and conclusions about Trump simply confirmed what many people had already observed and concluded for themselves but didn't have the authority to assert. I was giving voice to what ordinary people see with their own eyes, and they were grateful for validation from a mental health professional.," Gartner said.
