Corrie's Sally Ann Matthews takes aim at CBB stars after Colson Smith comments

Coronation Street cast member Sally Ann Matthews has spoken out following references to her colleague Colson Smith by some of his co-stars on Celebrity Big Brother.

Colson, 25 - who plays Craig Tinker on the ITV soap opera - is among the celebrities who are in the Big Brother house at the moment. The actor has been misnamed on the reality TV show, which has prompted reactions on social media.

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren Simon, 48, has particularly attracted attention over her references to Colson. This included during Friday's episode, in which she speculated about who had nominated her for eviction.

Whilst in the Diary Room, she said: "The jury's out in a really weird way ... is ... because I can't say his name and I think it's getting to him a bit ... is Collister ... Colster. Colster. I dunno, I think there's a mask that's come down there a bit."

Although some viewers found the scene amusing, not everyone was impressed. Colson's colleague Sally, 53 - who plays Jenny Bradley on Corrie - took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share her reaction to Lauren's comments.

Sally tweeted last night about the scene: "Collister????? Is she for real??????? Clearly hasn't or doesn't want to find out anything about him. Rude. #CBBUK." The post was part of her commentary during the latest episode of the show.

Minutes later in the same episode, housemates Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, both 71, were seen discussing their co-stars on Celebrity Big Brother. The former X Factor judges had a discussion whilst beside each other at a table.

Referring to Colson during the conversation with his pal, Louis said: "He's interesting, the guy from Corrie. He's an interesting guy. He knows a lot." Sharon responded: "Yeah, he is." She added: "His personality has really come out."

Sally - who has previously taken aim at Louis on social media - later addressed Colson not being directly named in the conversation. Following Louis' remark, she wrote: "'The guy from Corrie' ???? You're living alongside each other. Make a chuffin effort. Says so much about him. Eugghh."

The actor received some support over her tweet, with one person responding: "Was thinking same. How hard is it to say Colson? Should have know his name by now." Another fan said: "They've been at it all week and Lauren's worse she can't even be bothered to get his name right!" Whilst a third wrote on the platform: "It's so rude to not know his name after living under the same roof for the last few days."
