Every parent wants to send their child off with a healthy, balanced, and nutritious lunch when they attend nursery or school.

There's lots to remember when sending your child to school, including putting together their lunchbox, and sometimes you'll have the time to take care of selecting different things to send them off with, but other times it's a case of frantically slapping a sandwich together.

One mum, Emily, has started a debate online after showcasing what she sent her four-year-old daughter to school with for lunch. The mum explained that her daughter's nursery complained that she "did not send lunch" for the little girl, reports Kidspot.

Normally Emily would send her daughter to school with hot food in a thermos but on this particular day, she sent her daughter to school with four "enormous" green grapes, half a clementine, four slices of ham, a cucumber, a Babybel cheese, a pack of Breton crackers, an Oreo, a small bag of snack mix and a large pack of seaweed. But the teacher seemed less than impressed.

Emily told the teacher: "I covered all of the food groups. The meat, cheese, crackers and fruit are like a kids' charcuterie. I have never experienced criticism for our food choices, and I hope they are not giving her a hard time about this nor food shaming her. Daycare is not at all my first choice but a necessary thing in our life."

The mum said the whole situation has "stressed" her. Several people commented on the dilemma, with many agreeing with the mum.

One individual said: "Why are they commenting at all? If they want to prescribe what is 'acceptable', they should provide lunch as part of tuition." Another said: "I would tell them they are not nutritionists; I'd also mention most reliable and up-to-date daycares have snacks and food included in the tuition."

But another commented: "You said you usually send a thermos, so they were probably looking for a thermos. I hope you weren't too rude to them."
