Man's sweet gesture for little boy who cycles past his house every day

A frustrating ordeal for one homeowner turned into a heartwarming moment as he selflessly brighted up a little boys' day.

Every evening, the man would get a notification from his cameras that there had been movement on his driveway. As he initially found it "annoying", he checked the camera to see a little boy on a walk with his parents and dogs.

He saw that the boy would use his drive as a flat surface to speed up and down while riding his bike. Although he admitted the alerts were frustrating night after night, he then decided to level up the little boys' evening walk with the sweet gesture during the 2020 lockdown as "something needed to be done".

The man said at the time: "Every night I would get an alert from my driveway security camera, and at first I was a bit annoyed, but then I found myself looking forward to the evening alert. And then inspiration struck, in the form of my wife giving me this great idea. What transpired has turned into the best part of an otherwise dreary pandemic summer."

He grabbed some chalk and drew a racetrack on the concrete, winding up and down in the same route the boy followed every night without fail, adding a few turns and little details for him to follow. The next evening, security footage uploaded to YouTube captured the moment the boy stops in his tracks as he notices the heartwarming gesture, before racing to the the start line and completing the course like a pro.

Every time it rained the man created a new track, which slowly got more and more adventurous. With long straights, hairpin turns and a message saying 'For the win' with a chalk trophy at the finish line.

He said: "I don't know who's having more fun with this, him or me." Pretty soon it wasn't just the little boy visiting the track, but other children, grown ups on their own bikes and mums with buggies.

It was shared on YouTube by CanyonChasers with the caption 'How I deal with kids playing in my driveway' and has racked up more than 10 million views. Viewers loved the video of the sweet exchange, as one commented: "This is a wholesome story that I thought was gonna be bad."

A second wrote: "Crazy how such a minuscule detail can warm people's hearts and make children happy." Another said: ''I laughed when the compilation of people including adults takin' on the course."
