A woman accidentally snapped a photo of a "strange" blue object in the sky, which she believes might be a UFO.

Levi Highcock, 24, was out for a drive with her friend at about 10pm in the Clockface area of St Helens. They stopped to take a picture of the beautiful evening sky, and Levi tried to capture the moon on Snapchat first, but the lighting wasn't right.

So she switched to her phone camera's night mode. When she looked at the photo later, she and her friend were stunned to see a blue object in the sky that looked like a UFO.

She said: "I was taking a picture on Snapchat and I couldn't see anything in the snap, so I took a picture with the night mode on my camera and I could see this blue thing in the sky. I couldn't see any lights around it or anything - you can just see the blue thing in the sky. I was just taking a picture of the moon while we were out because I thought it looked nice", reports the Liverpool Echo.

After the initial shock, Levi shared the photo on a local Facebook group to see if anyone else had seen the same thing. She exclaimed: "We were just like oh, my God, it does look like a UFO. It does look like a ship, it doesn't look like a plane or a light, it looks like a UFO."

"I sort of believe in them. I'm not a strong believer but I do believe there are aliens out there and stuff like that. It's interesting. You can see it but it was strange. I believe more now I can see it."

Meanwhile, a UFO expert has called for the Government to investigate after a string of sights at London Stansted Airport. In one, a mysterious black craft came within 20 metres of a Ryanair plane travelling at 230mph shortly after it took off.

It was one of 27 reported UFO sightings in Essex in the past six years alone. A drone-monitoring system is in place to try and detect such crafts, but it didn't register on that occasion.

Other UFO reports include sightings of a "green fluorescent light like a comet coming from the sky" and a "big faded ball of light going in and out of the clouds".
