Corrie's Sally Carman celebrates 'best news' after rare scene with husband
Sally Carman has celebrated the "best news" following filming a rare scene with her husband.
The Coronation Street actress is known for her role as Abi Franklin in the ITV soap. She has shared her support for her friend and co-star who has just become a permanent member of the Corrie cast. Vicky Myers will be a regular on the soap after joining back in 2021 as DS Lisa Swain.
She had originally signed up for just eight episodes. Vicky's character Lisa was first seen when she led the police investigation into assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin. Lisa has since faced backlash from Daisy Midgeley after police failed to stop her stalker Justin Rutherford before his horrific acid attack on her wedding day.
The detective sergeant was also spotted leading the hunt for serial killer Stephen Reid last year. Vicky shared her exciting news on social media with a photo of her character on the Cobbles. She declared: "Swain’s here to stay! Thank you for the wonderful messages in response to the exciting news and for the fantastic support since I joined @itvcorrie It’s greatly appreciated #CoronationSt #Swain #LISA."

Vicky has been made a permanent soap memberSally showed her support to her pal as she responded: "Hurrah! This is the best news ever! Top actress, wonderful human - can’t wait to see what happens next." Her husband Joe Duttine, who plays Tim Metcalfe on the soap, commented a string of raising hands emojis to celebrate.

It comes after Sally and her husband Joe shared a rare scene together. Despite both working on Coronation Street, their characters rarely cross paths on screen. During Monday's show, Abi and Tim were seen interacting as they joined Steve McDonald for drinks. They were discussing Tracy Barlow's affair with Tommy Orpington.
During the show, fans took to social media as one said: "I still can't believe Abi and Tim are married in real life lol #Corrie." The pair have been together for a few years, having married back in 2022. The pair got engaged during lockdown as they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Joe proposed to her in a romantic treasure hunt with his kids involved.
Back in 2021, Sally said: "Coronation Streethas completely changed my life, I feel really settled. I’ve got myself a fiancé, I’ve moved house, and I’ve got a family and brilliant friends. Before Corrie my life was about the next job. Now I’m at an age where I’ve pretty much done everything I want to do and this is a job where I get to do different storylines and hang out with good friends at work. Then I come home to my nice house and my family. I feel like I’m putting roots down for the first time in my life."
