Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kanda was subjected to a horrifying attack as she walked through a tube station after work.

BBC presenter Nikita was left shaken after a stranger hit her in the face, laughed and then ran off. The broadcaster, who appeared on the dance contest last year, was left terrified as she called police, who rushed to help her as people on the network just stood and watched. After seemingly being targeted at random in London earlier today, she took to social media to re-live the ordeal.

"Today something really scary happened and I feel the need to share it," the Asian Network host wrote on Instagram. "After finishing my show today I was walking underground at Oxford Circus station minding my own business looking at my phone and a random guy decided to hit me in the face for no reason at all and laughed about it."

She went on to say that she is still coming to terms with the attack and says she has never come to close to anything like this having in the capital since she was born. She added: "I'm in utter shock that someone could do this. I've lived in London my whole life and something like this has never happened.

"I would like to think I'm very street wise and always aware of my surroundings. Luckily, I'm not hurt, the big sunglasses I wear actually protected my face in some way. It's just absolutely disgusting that someone can do this in broad daylight and what was even more sad no one around me cared or batted an eye lid that someone just hit me in public.

"The police are dealing with it and taking it very seriously but I thought it was important to share if you are walking alone or if you travel alone a lot like I do just to be careful. There are some very nasty people out there and this has just opened my eyes and shook me up tbh. What kind of world do we live in."

Nikita was the second celebrity to be eliminated after she landed in the dreaded dance-off against Zara McDermott. She revealed her professional partner Gorka Marquez had warned her that the show would “bring the emotions out” of her as she said goodbye in the early part of the programme.

After she was announced as one of 2023’s Strictly stars, Nikita said she “couldn’t believe” she was taking part. Talking on her radio show, she said: “I've grown up watching this show every single year glued to the TV like many of you at home. This has been the biggest secret ever, it's been so hard to keep this in and today I feel relieved, I've finally let this out and sharing this moment with you. I just can't wait for the glitz, the glamour, the hair, the make-up, the outfits, and even to meet those judges."
