Man dies in horror accident at Stilton cheese factory as police launch probe
A man has died after reportedly being injured at a Leicestershire cheese factory with police launching an investigation.
Leicestershire Police said it was called to the premises at Long Clawson Dairy, near Melton, by the East Midlands Ambulance Service just after 7pm on Sunday (March 3) following a report that a man had been found injured.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, police said. It added that it was liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.
The cheese factory located in Hickling Lane, in Long Clawson, is known for its production of various award winning Stilton cheeses.
A HSE spokesperson said: “We are fully supporting Leicestershire Police ’s investigation into this incident.” The dairy declined to comment when approached by LeicestershireLive.

A full statement from Leicestershire Police read: "An investigation is ongoing following the death of a man at a dairy business in Hickling Lane, Long Clawson. Police were called to Long Clawson Dairy by the East Midlands Ambulance Service just after 7pm on Sunday (3 March) following a report that a man had been found injured.
"The man was later pronounced deceased at the scene. An investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Leicestershire Police is liaising with the Health and Safety Executive."
Many people have taken to social media to express their sorrow after the tragedy last Sunday. One person wrote on Facebook: "Very sad. Condolences to all," and another said: "Very sad. Love and condolences to you all." The Mirror has contacted Long Clawson Dairy for comment.
