A car was "rammed" off a road before a fight erupted in a horrifying brawl which witnesses said left one man covered in blood.

The drama kicked off on the road in Bridgehall in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Tuesday when a Vauxhall was reportedly shoved off the highway and onto a grass verge. Residents said police swooped on the scene and were swarming "everywhere" minutes later.

Horrified witnesses also claimed they saw violent scenes break out following the collision, with a man left bleeding after being attacked and injured. Greater Manchester Police has yet to confirm whether anyone was seriously hurt in the incident.

One woman who lives on the estate said that her children were playing out and witnessed the incident, which she said happened at around 5pm. "They said there was a black van that crashed into the car. They came out from the van and started fighting," she said.

"One guy looked like he was hurt quite badly. He was bleeding. There was police everywhere. I just hope he's okay." The mum added: "When they started fighting I came out and brought my kids inside. It was enough.

"I didn't want to look. It's horrible. We have children - lots of people do around here. And they are often playing out there. So it is scary. I just don't feel safe anymore. There's always something happening here. That's Bridgehall." Another homeowner living nearby also claimed there had been a 'fight' earlier in the evening.

A cordon was erected around a grassed area on the corner of the two residential streets throughout the evening, as forensics officers were seen inspecting and taking pictures of a Vauxhall car that was also taped off, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The car, thought to have been involved, was left with its two front doors open. A number of police vehicles and a CSI van remained stationed at the scene with forensics investigations continuing late into Tuesday night. The Mirror has contacted GMP for further information.
