Two men found dead after being crushed by straw bales on farm
Two men have died after being crushed by straw bales in an accident at a farm, it is believed.
One man aged in his 70s and another in his 40s were killed at the Cross Bank Drove in Soham, Cambridgeshire on Saturday. The accident has referred to the Health and Safety Executive and is not being treated as suspicious by the police.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said said: "We were called to an industrial incident at Cross Bank Drove, Soham, at about 1.50pm on Saturday (March 2). Fire and ambulance also attended. Two men, one in his 70s and the other in his 40s, died at the scene. The incident is non-suspicious and has been referred to the HSE."
A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A crew from Ramsey was initially called to assist ambulance staff with an incident in Barway on Saturday. However, they were stood down and no firefighting action was required."
A HSE spokeswoman said: "We are currently assisting the police with its enquiries."
