Michael McIntyre has been forced to cancel a second comedy gig as he undergoes a medical procedure.

The comedian, 48, announced on Sunday that his Southampton show at the Mayflower Theatre would not go ahead on Monday. On Twitter, formerly X, his account wrote: “We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will be unable to perform on Monday 4 March at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.

“Unfortunately, Michael has had an operation to remove kidney stones. The show will be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly. Tickets will remain valid for the new date. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

The comedian is currently in the midst of his world tour, titled Magnificent, that has already seen him take to the road over the past year and is expected to see him playing dates all the way through 1 September. He has already played dates across the UK and Ireland and has been to Australia, Asia, New Zealand, the UAE, the USA and parts of Europe.

He still has UK and Ireland dates ahead - as well as dates in European countries including Norway, Finland, the Netherland, Germany and Sweden. But unfortunately, fans planning to see the star take to the stage in Southampton were hit with bad news.

Taking to social media on Sunday, Michael and his team let his fans know about the sudden change in plans - and reassured those with tickets that they would still be able to see him on a new date. They shared an update via X that gave all of the details - along with an apology to those left in distress over the fact he couldn’t take to the stage as originally planned.

The statement read: “We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will be unable to perform on Monday 4 March at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Unfortunately, Michael has had an operation to remove kidney stones. The show will be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly.

“Tickets will remain valid for the new date. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund. We are very sorry for an inconvenience caused.”

The announcement was met with messages of support and sympathy - with many followers also sharing that they had experienced the agony of kidney stones. One sympathetic fan reacted to Michael’s post to write: “Kidney stones - argh the pain! So sorry to hear you've been suffering.”

Another typed: “Ouch! I had kidney stones a few years ago, more painful than giving birth twice... hoping Michael is on the mend.” And a further fan wrote: “Get well soon Michael! I know how painful that is as I’m just getting over kidney stones although didn’t have them operated on - nature took its course! Hope you get the strong pain relief!!”

The update comes just three days after Michael was forced to pull out of another UK date - presumably due to his medical situation. A post shared on Thursday declared: “Due to illness Michael is sadly unable to perform tonight's show (Thu 29 Feb) at Plymouth Pavilions. The show will be rescheduled to a later date to be announced soon. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Fans across the UK can still find tickets in major cities including Glasgow, Birmingham and Belfast - however much of the tour is already sold out. The current final date is scheduled to take place on 1 September in Berlin, Germany where he will perform at Tempodrom.
