The BRIT Awards was jam-packed with memorable, powerful and hilarious moments.

Maya Jama, Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo took on hosting duties for this year as the best of the music world descended on The O2 Arena in London. All eyes were on RAYE before the night began after receiving a record number of nominations in one year and becoming the first female artist to win Songwriter of the Year.

The huge star had great success on the night taking home Song of the Year, New Artist, British Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, R&B act and Album of the Year. She also wowed the audience and viewers at home with her performance.

Dua Lipa kicked off the show while Global Icon winner Kylie Minogue closed the night with a medley of her greatest hits. Calvin Harris X Ellie Goulding, Jungle and Tate McRae were just some of the other artists that performed on the night.

There was also plenty of standout moments for viewers watching at home, including a Christian Horner swipe and an emotional plea from a victim of the Post Office scandal. Here we take a look at the most memorable moments from the night...

Roman Kemp's 'insults' Green Day

Green Day attended the award ceremony to present the best British group award. However, before they walked onto the stage, host Roman made a very savage dig about American pop punk band.

He said: "To present our next award for British group are two genuine rock gods. They have sold over 75 million records and released 14 albums - they are very much the American Busted. Please welcome from Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool."

BRIT viewers at home fumed over the comment as they took to social media to share their thoughts. One said: "I think Green Day being called “the American Busted” might be the most insulting thing I’ve ever heard. Ever. #BritAwards." Another asked: "Did he just call Green Day the American Busted #BritAwards."

Christian Horner dig

BRITS host Roman also took a swipe at Christian Horner after the Red Bull boss was cleared following an internal investigation into "inappropriate" behaviour. Geri Horner and her 50-year-old Formula 1 boss husband - who has been Team Principal and CEO of Red Bull F1 Team since 2005 - saw their marriage rocked over claims he sent suggestive messages to a female colleague.

Roman made a dig about the scandal while presenting amongst the guests. He said: "It's busier here than at the Red Bull's press office."

Raye breaks records

Raye was the big winner of the night, picking up six awards and winning in every category she was nominated in except for one. The artist broke down in tears as she accepted Album of the Year for My 21st Century Blues, with her grandma Agatha by her side.

"You just don't understand what this means to me," she said tearfully as she put her arm around her grandma. My middle name is Agatha and this is Agatha Dawson.

"I'm so proud of this album. I'm in love with music. All I ever wanted to be is an artist and now I'm an artist with an album of the year!"

Post office victim's swipe at government

Former sub-postmaster Jo Hamilton along with Mr Bates vs The Post Office star Monica Dolan were invited on stage to dish out the Song of the Year Award – which was won by Raye for her number one smash Escapism, featuring 070 Shake. Before the winner was announced, Jo invited the audience and ITV viewers to continue supporting her and her fellow wronged post workers.

She said: “I just want to thank everybody in the country for the love and support they have shown the postmasters. And please could you keep on supporting us because in spite of what the government say, they’re not paying the postmasters. Thank you.”

Dua Lipa's dad sends fans into meltdown

Chart-topping singer Dua Lipa took home the award for Best Pop Act after she performed her latest single, Training Season at the beginning of the 2024 awards ceremony. Dua thanked her parents Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa for their support, but viewers were sent into meltdown over the pop star's "hot" dad.

"Dua Lipa and the hottest dad in the world,” one person jokingly shared. "Now we know where Dua gets her natural beauty from. Wow, her dad is out of this world," another echoed.

"OMG Dua Lipa's dad is smoking hot. Is he single? Asking for a friend," someone else joked. "GUYS Dua Lipa's dad looks like a hotter version of George Clooney. Talk about tall dark and handsome. Yum," another swooned.

BRIT winner flashes boobs

Indie rock band The Last Dinner – who took home the Rising Star Award – were being interviewed by host Clara when viewers noticed a wardrobe malfunction. As Clara chatted to Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies and Aurora Nishevci, viewers realised the sheer dress one of the band members was wearing was transparent on camera.

One wrote: "There’s a boob out on the brits #BritAwards," while another added: "#freethenipple Fair play to her!"
