A man has recalled his horror at learning that the "weird insulation" inside his home was human hair.

He was astonished to discover the human hair while he was fitting his new windows. 'Chris' was thrilled when he moved into his new property six months ago. He called in a glazier to install a large bay window in the lounge. But things took a bizarre turn after he cut the window out and removed the frame. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw clumps of what appeared to be “human hair” stuffed inside the wall and some looked like it had been dyed too.

The 39-year-old from Victoria, Australia said: “I initially thought it was insulation. I said to the glazier: ‘That's weird insulation.’ He grabbed a clump from the wall and said, ‘Yeah, it's almost like hair. To which I replied, ‘human hair' – because it was a full array of human and dyed hair colours. We looked at each other confused and he dropped the clump and screwed up his face. He then expressed his relief that there were no bones or teeth with it.”

He believes the unusual insulation came from the previous occupant who was a hairdresser. But he says some of his friends have suggested the hair was being stored for witchcraft. The glazier kindly offered to remove the hair for Chris. Some of it blew through his house after it was discovered.

Chris has since found more hair in plastic bags on the roof. He added: “Any time I do any work to the house I'll be expecting it now!”

The Mirror previously told how a couple thought they had somehow ended up in the middle of a potential murder investigation after finding what they thought to be 'human remains' in their vehicle. Even the police seemed mystified as to what was going on when they showed them the 'human hair' they discovered in their exhaust pipe.

Deborah told how she was planning a Valentine's party when her husband arrived home looking 'visibly rattled'. The 48-year-old A&E doctor had a large 'clump of hair' in his hand, explaining that it had been hanging out of their 2016 Ford Expedition.

Flustered, they headed out to the driveway, where William began fishing more of the stuff out of the exhaust pipe. Mum-of-four Deborah instantly feared there were human remains inside the family motor before her true crime knowledge even led her to wonder if it could be 'voodoo' from someone 'out to get them'.

They called the police and even they were left stumped by the whole thing. "We'd explained that we found it in our exhaust pipe, didn't know what it was and assumed it wasn't human hair," recalls Deborah.

"The law enforcement officer looked at it with total confusion. He was just as baffled as we were. He started kicking it around and looking for body parts. He said there weren't any, there wasn't a scalp that'd make him think it was human hair and there was nothing to indicate it was once alive. He said he'd file a report and went to ask our neighbours to review their CCTV."

Thankfully Deborah's brother-in-law was able to solve the mystery - it wasn't human hair at all, it was all caused by a broken silencer, which sheds insulation material when it is about to break.
