The Premier League have requested that Sheffield United reimburse disgruntled Chelsea fans who have been impacted by the fixture's second rescheduling in three days.

Blues fans were left furious after their trip to Bramall Lane was the subject of a changed kick-off time on Friday. Last Tuesday saw the clash, set to take place on Sunday, April 7, moved to a kick-off time of 1:30pm. Three days later, it had been changed again and is now planned to get started at 5:30pm instead.

The Premier League themselves are believed to be annoyed by the switch, given they had only just got the two clubs to agree to the earlier kick-off time. However, the 1:30pm time has had to be changed due to the Sheffield Half Marathon taking place that same afternoon.

Not one of the Blades, the police or the local council flagged it as an issue - until after the 1:30pm kick-off time had been announced to fans. Chelsea Supporters Trust described the decision to change it again as 'disrespectful,' given many supporters had already purchased train tickets.

The Supporters Trust also encouraged fans to send them proof of additional expenses they will incur if they attend the game, so that they can send it on to the Premier League who will leave it with Sheffield United to reimburse.

Their statement in full read: "In a season where Chelsea have kicked off only four times at the traditional 3pm and have had many inconvenient kick-off time slots (including the first Christmas Eve fixture in 28 years), this is just another kick in the teeth to loyal match-going supporters.

"This is the latest occasion of supporters being treated with disrespect, especially as this issue was totally foreseeable.

"Our message to all parties involved with fixture scheduling is clear: stop treating match-going supporters with total disrespect or risk stadiums becoming lifeless, soulless, and without passion."

These off-field headaches come at a time when Chelsea fans don't exactly have much to shout about on the pitch either. Last Sunday's Carabao Cup final defeat will sting Maurico Pochettino for some time, regardless of Wednesday's FA Cup win over Leeds.

The Blues languish all the way down in 11th when it comes to the Premier League table. Chelsea have lost 10 league ties so far this term, as many as they have won.
