Maya Henry fans are expecting her to dish on her relationship with One Direction's Liam Payne.

The actress posted a cryptic post on Instagram that left fans concerned about Liam's involvement in "a period in [Maya's] life filled with a lot of pain. She wrote that "2020 was a dark and scary time for all of us," in reference to the lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic, but she decided to keep a journal which has since evolved into a published novel.

She wrote: "I’m very nervous to share a project that was once my most personal outlet of joy and freedom - a story I never intended to share. I hope that by doing so, anyone out there experiencing similar trauma and hardships as my main character will feel less alone."

Alongside a photo of the book's cover, Maya included a content warning to fans considering reading. The list of possible triggers included "abuse, violence, self-harm, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, and abortion." Notably, Liam has spoken openly about his struggles with alcohol abuse.

The book's cover only piled onto suspicion that Liam was used as inspiration for a character. The glimpse gave fans a peek at the main characters one of which was a musician. The man, with an acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder, was seen with armfuls of tattoos, a jarring similarity to Liam. His other arm was wrapped around a woman who is clad in blue as they walk through a city scene together.

The couple started dating in 2018 which drew concern from fans due to their seven year age gap. In fact, Maya was a Directioner and even met the boys back in 2015 before their heartbreaking hiatus. By 2020, Liam and Maya were engaged which just another reason fans are concerned that the book is about him, especially since they called it off in 2021 briefly before getting back together.

Maya said: "I learned that the great thing about pain is that it can inspire something beautiful. Writing has always been my passion, and I journaled about my experiences throughout the pandemic. Eventually, this journal evolved into a novel."

The bombshell post was dropped just ahead of a new single release from Liam. Today, the former boybander released a single called Teardrops which is being better received by fans than his prior work. In support, his former boyband mate Louis Tomlinson encouraged fans on Twitter to give it a listen.

A fan in her comment section wrote: "Yall there’s no way it’s not at least mainly about Liam like the cover art and the tattoos."

Another added: "Can we stop about Liam and be proud for a woman to gain the confidence to tell her story ESPECIALLY with that trigger warning."

A fan on Twitter wrote: "News flash Liam Payne is probably not the person u think he is, his music sucks and clearly he did not treat Maya well if she’s writing a whole book about it. pull ur heads out of ur a****s please."

Another said: "Bro people defending Liam Payne already are weird asf, i’m glad Maya has found a passion and is speaking out about her experience as a 19 year old dating and being ENGAGED to that grown man."
