Speculation over an upcoming Fortnite live event has been rampant this week, and after leakers were adamant it would happen yesterday, players are now unsure when the Titan Hand event will take place.

Update: Things are hotting up in Fortnite and we're not just talking about the magma-infused crater. The community has been abuzz about the impending Fortnite live event and when exactly it's going to take place. Our bets were on next Friday when the new season starts, but reputable leakers piped up yesterday saying the Fortnite live event was about to happen that evening, but a Titan Hand didn't smash its way out of the crater after all.

With the five cracks around the map's crater apparently filling with magma one-by-one, it seemed feasible that this was some kind of daily countdown, which would put the Fortnite live start time somewhere at the start of next week. But now, leakers are saying it's possible the Fortnite live event will happen on Saturday, March 2 based on "the last few happenings at the crater" – a second magma line has already appeared suggesting it's not a daily countdown after all.

So with all that context out of the way, it looks like the Fortnite live event start time may be around 6-7pm GMT / 1-2pm EST / 10-11am PST according to one of the game's prominent leakers, ShiinaBR on Twitter. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, because after yesterday's fiasco, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, and I'm an idiot. These leakers do have established reputations but depending on datamined info doesn't mean that dates/ times for events are necessarily going to be accurate. We'll have to wait and see what happens in-game tomorrow.

Original story: Despite Fortnite 's roster of reputable leakers being certain that the Fortnite live event featuring the Titan Hand would happen yesterday, rather than next week when Chapter 5 Season 2 starts, the allotted time given by the leakers came and went without even a Titan finger emerging from the ground. Players were understandably disappointed – especially considering there were server issues due to so many people trying to log in to see the event (via Shiina on Twitter).

Epic Games' senior programmer for Fortnite and the Unreal Engine, Evan Kinney, posted a couple of tweets about the situation. The first tweet said "perhaps you shouldn’t trust everything dataminers say. just saying." However, he followed it up with a little teaser of his own, saying "I'm no expert, but that crater is awfully small. I’d think it would need to get bigger before anything interesting happens.".

Give us a hand

Evan Kinney's last comment is especially interesting, as in the time since that tweet was made, one of the five cracks around the crater has begun glowing red and smoking (much like the Titan Hand in the leaked images). Twitter leaker HYPEX (who was sure the Fortnite live event would take place yesterday) later tweeted that they reckon these cracks are some sort of countdown.

Based on that – if we had to speculate – we imagine one crack is going to heat up every day from now until all five are glowing, and that'll be when the Titan Hand eventually emerges. Based on this, the Fortnite live event would land on Tuesday, March 5 if our prediction is true – which comes a few days before Chapter 5 Season 1 ends on Friday, March 8.

However, there's also the chance that there's an extra day between the final crack heating up and the Titan Hand bursting forth from the crater, which would mean the event starts on Wednesday, March 6. The best way to know is to keep an eye out on Epic Games' social accounts, or just keep playing the game over the weekend to see what happens.
