A woman has told of her ‘rage and fury' after her own mother cruelly burst her happy ‘engagement bubble.’ After sharing she had recently got engaged, she told how her husband-to-be had ‘lovingly’ had a ring custom-made for her, hand-picking her dazzling diamond to ensure it was extra special.

However, after sharing the happy news with her family and showing them the ring she was proudly wearing, she was ‘blindsided’ when her mum called her a few days later to tell her some 'cruel and devastating’ news. “She called me and said: ‘I found your ring on Amazon’,” she fumed.

After admitting it was impossible, as she had all of the certificates and proof of where it had been custom made, she asked: “Why are people like this? Why? She was on Amazon looking for rings like mine? She’s so toxic.”

One Reddit reader responded to her wedding woe saying: “It's like someone saying they don’t like the name you picked out for your kid,” while another commented: “It's a rock. All it has to do is look nice and that you like it, nothing else matters.”

However many were quick to say that custom rings were usually anything but: “A custom ring is rarely a one-of-a-kind. It's custom like build-a-bear,” said one, while another agreed, saying: “A lot of custom rings mean that you pick the gem and pick the setting, material, etc and then they make it just for you. Not that they’re designing an entirely novel setting for each ring. This doesn’t mean that the ring isn’t special, it just means it’s not one of a kind.”

Another said sarcastically: ’I found your ring on Amazon,’ well, what a coincidence, I found your wedding invitation in the trash.”
