Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has pipped Arsenal's Mikel Arteta to the Manager of the Year award at the London Football Awards 2024.

Since moving to Spurs from Celtic last summer, the Australian has made a big impression. He has implemented an attacking style of football and turned Tottenham into top-four contenders after a disappointing previous Premier League campaign, which saw them finish in eighth.

With a third of the season to go, Spurs are firmly in the hunt for a place in the Champions League next season. They currently sit five points behind fourth-place Aston Villa with a game in hand. With Tottenham not in Europe, the top-flight is their only focus after they suffered early exits in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

And Postecoglou has now been rewarded for his fine start to life in north London. He has beaten 2023 winner Arteta to the coveted managerial prize, despite the Spaniard overseeing a second successive title challenge just a couple of miles down the road. Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Liverpool and one point adrift of second-place Manchester City.

Arsenal are also still in the Champions League and face Porto in the last 16 second-leg later this month as the Gunners look to overcome a 1-0 first-leg deficit. Like Spurs, the Gunners' progress in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup was haltered early.

West Ham's David Moyes, Chelsea Women's outgoing head coach Emma Hayes and Leyton Orient's Richie Wellens were the other nominees for the award.

As for the Premier League Player of the Year, Declan Rice scooped up that award for the second time. Having previously won the prize in 2022, Rice regained the honour from teammate and last year's winner Martin Odegaard. Rice has been impressive for the Gunners since his £105million move from West Ham.

Guglielmo Vicario collected the Goalkeeper of the Year award following a steady start to life at Tottenham, while Michael Olise scooped the Goal of the Year with his strike for Crystal Palace against Luton. Meanwhile, Chelsea's Cole Palmer took home the Young Player of the Year.

Postecoglou's Tottenham are back in action after a two-week break without a game when they host Palace on Saturday afternoon. Spurs have not been convincing of late, having picked up just four points from their last nine available. They drew at Everton, before beating Brighton and losing to Wolves at home.

After their defeat against Wolves last time out, Postecoglou was asked about how he can turn their mini-blip around. He said: "There's no tricks, it's hard work. I'm not a magician, I'm a football manager. It's hard work which these guys have done all year. Like I said, we've got to this point which is pretty decent on the back of some hard work and that's what we'll keep doing."
