Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg was arrested outside his ex-wife's home last weekend.

Hogg was arrested on suspicion of causing fear and alarm by acting in a threatening or abusive manner just hours after mingling with celebrities Murrayfield as Scotland beat England 30-21 in the Six Nations. The 31-year-old shared images of himself alongside the likes of Line of Duty actor Martin Compston and Masterchef presenter Gregg Wallace with the caption: "What a day. What a result.

"Cracking performance from the Scotland lads Really enjoyed being amongst these legends Martin Compston & Gregg Wallace in the Players Lounge."

However, the Sun are reporting that Hogg was then arrested later that same day at his former family home. The report states that Hogg was taken to Hawick police station after officers responded to a call at the address.

He has since been released, but is expected to appear in court at a later date after a report was submitted to prosecutors. Hogg split with his wife Gillian last year and is now dating former jockey and Sky Sports presenter Leonna Mayor.

"Around 4.40pm on Sunday, 25 February, police were called to an address in Hawick," a spokesperson for Police Scotland said. "A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was released on an undertaking to appeal at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal." Hogg retired from rugby last summer, having made 100 appearances for Scotland and also become their all-time record try scorer.

He was awarded an MBE for services to the sport following his retirement and has since begun working as a pundit on TNT Sports' rugby coverage. "When I first heard the news, I thought it was a wind-up, so I was straight on the phone to the number and I was told 'Don’t worry Mr Hogg, you're not the first person to think that'," he said of his MBE.

"I am absolutely delighted, pretty emotional and over-whelmed. I never thought anything like that would come my way. It's massive, coming as well having called time on my career, which was a tough decision but, also, I believe the right decision."
