New Disney+ shows to stream with £1.99 deal, including Taylor Swift film
Disney+ has launched an awesome money-saving deal that lets members stream the latest and greatest films and shows for £1.99 a month. Until March 14, TV lovers can sign up for the streamer’s Standard with Ads plan and lock in the £1.99 a month rate for three months.
This gives access to a Disney+’s packed TV and film library, which boasts tons of timeless classics and recent hits from the likes of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel. Disney+ members can already stream hit shows like The Bear and Welcome to Wrexham, both of which return later this year for a third season.
There’s also 2023 sci-fi blockbuster The Creator, all 11 seasons of hit US sitcom Modern Family and a whopping 19 seasons of medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. As well as all this stellar content, Disney+ has a packed slate of blockbuster new shows launching in March, all of which can be enjoyed as part of the £1.99 a month deal.

Here, we take a look at the best new shows and films coming to Disney+ in March.
Shōgun
This sprawling samurai series has just started airing and has been hailed as a “genuine masterpiece” by critics and is said to be the most epic show since Game of Thrones. The Japanese-set action-drama has earned a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, while fans have already said it could be the best show of the year.

Shōgun centres around a military leader in 17th-century Japan who fights for his life at the dawn of an era-defining civil war. It is told from the perspective of English sailor John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), who rises from outsider to samurai while being used as a pawn in Lord Yoshii Toranaga’s (Hiroyuki Sanada) struggle to reach the top of the ruling chain – or Shōgun
The 10-part series is adapted from James Clavell’s 1975 bestselling novel of the same name – itself a fictionalised version of historical events – which also spawned a 1980 US TV miniseries.

Extraordinary season two
This award-winning British comedy centres around Jen (Máiréad Tyers), an ordinary young woman struggling to find her place in a world where most people develop a random superpower after they turn 18. Its latest instalment will see Jen and the gang dealing with new levels of adulting and chaos that none of them are prepared for as the new instalment picks up where season one spectacularly left off.
It will follow Jen on her powers journey as she enrols as a client at the power clinic, but soon discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing either. Shapeshifter and former cat Jizzlord (Luke Rollason) will have an unexpected revelation about his past, while Kash (Bilal Hasna) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham) do their best to be mature and dignified about their break-up – which is not easy when living under the same roof.

Poor Things
Emma Stone picked up the Best Actress BAFTA and an Oscar nomination for her performance in this outlandish comedy-drama from The Favourite director Yorgos Lanthimos. It tells the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).
Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version)
This concert film gives Swifties the chance to experience the 14-time Grammy-winner’s record-breaking world tour from their own home. The Eras Tour was shown in cinemas around the world in October and grossed more than $260 million worldwide at the global box office, becoming the highest grossing concert film ever.

Disney+ is now set to release Taylor’s Version, the more than three-hour extended edition complete with songs that were cut from the theatrical and previously released on-demand version. It will feature ‘cardigan’ and four as yet unconfirmed acoustic tracks.

X-Men '97
Disney+ and Marvel have revived the classic '90s X-Men series with this nostalgic new cartoon. X-Men ‘97 sees Marvel’s iconic team of mutants including Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Beast and Gambit back in action in a brand-new sequel.
The 10-episode series serves as a continuation of Fox’s hugely popular X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran for five seasons between 1992 and 1997. It revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men – a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them – are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future without Professor X, who died in the finale of the ‘90s series

Renegade Nell
This fantastical action-adventure series is the latest project from Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright. It stars Derry Girls’ Louisa Harland as the titular Nell Jackson, a young woman who is framed for murder and forced to a life of crime in 18th-century England.
Renegade Nell follows the quick-witted and courageous Nell as she goes on the run with her sisters and turns to highway robbery to survive. Aided by her superpowered sidekick, a plucky little sprite called Billy Blind (Nick Mohammed), Nell soon realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason, a reason much bigger than she could have ever imagined: to defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.
Renegade Nell premieres on March 29.
The year ahead
Award-winning dramedy The Bear will return later this year for a third seasonLooking further ahead, Disney+ has plenty more blockbuster new shows dropping throughout 2024. Highlights include Sean Bean murder mystery Shardlake, music docuseries Camden and the sinister Star Wars prequel series, The Acolyte.
