Giving birth is no walk in the park - and you expect your partner to support you through the process.

This is why one woman was left in tears when her husband made a cruel three-word comment to her while she was giving birth to their son around a year ago. The 26-year-old mum explained that her pregnancy was "pretty rough" and she experienced "incredibly severe" labour pain when the time came to give birth. The experience had her "screaming and crying", but rather than show her support through the ordeal, her husband had just three words for her - "suck it up".

The woman insisted she had "forgotten the incident" for a while after their son was born, but when her husband was taken to hospital with kidney stones, she couldn't pass up the urge to get revenge on him in the most petty way.

In a post on Reddit, she said: "The labour pain was incredibly severe. Still, I wanted a natural delivery so I went through all of it. My husband, who hadn't slept the whole night, got agitated by the screaming and said to me: 'Just try to suck it up a bit instead of screaming like this'. I honestly cried because of his comment.

"A few days ago my husband felt a sudden pain in his stomach and it only got more severe, to the point we had to take him to the hospital. The doctor did a few checkups and told him he had a kidney stone and needed treatment. The pain was so severe that my husband got painkiller shots, and even during that, he was screaming at the top of his lungs.

"At that moment I got petty, and since I was already fussy from sleeplessness due to taking care of a baby, I said to my husband, 'Can't you just suck it up for a while? Why are you shouting so much?'. He was shocked and then remained quiet. When we went home he was still quiet and when asked [what was wrong], he told me how insensitive I was. To this, I reminded him of the time when he said the same thing."

The woman's husband branded her "petty" and said her actions were "malicious", and commenters on the post were split - as while some praised her for her humour, others accused both parties of being "toxic" toward one another. One said: "I could see my wife doing exactly this sort of thing if she were in that situation. Was it a mature or kind decision? Not really, so I suppose it makes you a little mean, but hopefully, he will quit wallowing in self-pity and realize that dismissing the pain of someone one claims to love is beyond callous and was wrong of him."

In a later update to her original post, the woman insisted she and her husband are perfectly happy in their relationship, and neither of them is genuinely angry at the other for the comments they made. She even said her husband eventually laughed at her petty remark.
