Easter just got a little boozy, thanks to a delicious new drink from Aldi that fans are desperate to get their hands on.

As the countdown to the end of lent nears, the budget retailer is releasing a new Ballycastle Chocolate Crème - an Irish cream liqueur with 'delicate hints of chocolate and vanilla'. Aldi says the Baileys-inspired drink is 'best served neat with ice, or as part of an egg-ceptional choco-inspired cocktail'.

The sweet tipple, which boasts a 'smooth and creamy blend', which is an 'alcoholic twist on the nation's favourite Easter treat, the Cadbury's Creme Egg', will debut in the supermarket on March 14 but will only be available for a limited time.

A 70cl bottle of the drink, which is decorated with a yellow splat against a red and blue background similar to Cadbury's Creme Eggs, will cost £7.69. It is not confirmed when the limited-edition drink will be pulled off shelves, so it's worth acting quickly.

Chocolate lovers were sent into a frenzy when the upcoming product was posted on social media - with many heading into the store before the launch to see if any bottles had arrived early. "We need to try this," one user wrote.

"Oh my god I'm getting this," said another. While a third added: "I've already done an Aldi run today to try and find it." However, not everybody was thrilled by the new product. "Yuk," one disgusted person wrote. Another agreed, adding: "This is the most disgusting thing I've seen this year."

Earlier this year, Aldi received a prestigious award after scooping Gold at the World Gin Awards. Its budget-friendly Haysmith's Seville Orange & Persian Lime Gin won the 'Best in Country' award - as well as being crowned the Best in Britain within the Flavoured Gin category.

Priced at £14.99 a bottle, it is currently a whopping 46 per cent cheaper than rival brand Tanqueray, which flogs its Flor De Sevilla Gin for £28. "We are extremely proud that one of our own branded gins has been named 'best in the country', as well as landing medals for three other gins in our range," said Julie Ashfield of Aldi. "Now more than ever, we are showing that low prices doesn't mean a compromise on quality – we've got the logo to prove it!"
