Anthony Joshua's trainer believes a fight against Tyson Fury can only happen with the help of Saudi royal advisor Turki Alalsheikh.

Joshua and Fury have been linked to fight for almost a decade but a clear path has now emerged for the rivals to meet in the ring if they both win their upcoming fights. If 'AJ' beats Francis Ngannou on March 8, he's been promised a shot at the undisputed belts that Fury and Oleksandr Usyk meet for on May 18.

Ben Davison once coached Fury when the heavyweight champion returned to boxing after battling mental health issues and extreme weight gain, but the trainer has now been coaching Joshua for his past few fights. When asked about the possibility of Joshua fighting Fury, Davison told Full Circle. "Can I give you the truth? I honestly don’t know.

"If there’s one thing I will say, it’s that if it’s going to happen then Turki al Sheikh, his Excellency, is the person to do it. He’s delivering every single time. I know there are occasions where promoters say things, then eventually do it. With him, it’s about getting it done, and then talking about it. It wouldn’t surprise me if he has loads of things already signed off and done, and we just don’t know it.

"Unless he’s just that capable in being able to get it all done within 24 hours! I don’t know, you know. Tyson’s situation is a bit unpredictable if he’s going to have a Usyk rematch, even an Ngannou rematch, but the fight with AJ is one fight fans want to see. It has been the fight they’ve wanted for years, let’s see."

Fury was supposed to fight Usyk earlier this month but suffered a cut above his eye in sparring that pushed the undisputed clash back. The Brit downplayed any chances of retiring after facing Usyk by issuing a five-fight wishlist that included a rematch with the Ukrainian, two fights against Joshua and a rematch against Ngannou.

Joshua won three consecutive fights last year after his consecutive defeats to Usyk and many fans believe the Brit looks like a new fighter under Davison. Ngannou still believes a fight between Joshua and Fury could go either way as he told Mirror Fighting in an exclusive chat: "Fights are something that you can’t really predict.

"You can have an outside statistic but unless you get in the ring… it can go either way. That’s the beauty about combat sports, it can always go either way no matter what is the difference of level. Now we have two elite fighters who are on the top of their game, so I'd say 50/50.
