Strictly star Amy Dowden opens up about Robin Windsor's tragic death

Amy Dowden said Robin Windsor “made the whole room light up” as she paid tribute to the Strictly Come Dancing star, who sadly died last week.

Robin, 44, who danced with a whole host of stars on the BBC show, was reportedly found dead in a London hotel room weeks after posting a haunting Instagram message in news which sent shockwaves through the Strictly community.

Amy, who was a friend of Robin's, told Lorraine the dancer will “always remain part of the Strictly family” as she opened up about her loss. “He is such a beautiful soul. I know it’s made a huge impact on the family at Strictly. I just hope he knows how loved he was," she said.

Praising the dancer's talent, she continued: “He made the whole room light up. And I loved watching him perform. I went and saw him recently in Come What May in Wolverhampton with my friends and he was just phenomenal. It’s been a big shock and it’s quite a big impact and he will always remain part of the Strictly family."

When the news of the tragedy first broke, details surrounding the cause of Robin's death were not known. However, it has since been reported the popular star was found dead inside a London hotel room, after previously confiding in a friend about a "troubling incident" that took place over New Year.

Strictly star Graziano Di Prima also opened up about his friend in the wake of the shocking news. “He was always the one who would push himself to the limit on a tour. One day he came and said to me, ‘Please help me, I’ve got so much pain in my shoulder’, and he was shaking from the pain," Graziano explained in an interview.

Despite expressing her own heartbreak over Robin, Amy, thankfully, had some good news to share with Lorraine as she spoke of her relief after her latest health check. The Welsh dancer, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last May and underwent a mastectomy, revealed last week that doctors found “no evidence of disease” during her latest trip to the hospital.

She told Lorraine, who recently welcomed Amy onto her show as a regular presenter: “I was so worried it had spread to the bones so I’ve just got this spring in my step and this smile on my face. I do have to go back there once a month for an injection, it’s a brutal injection, but if that keeps my hormones at bay and stops feeding it, then it’s going to be worthwhile.

“I get another shot at life. And I’m so grateful and lucky and I wake up every day and say thank you because I know not everybody gets that opportunity. And along the way I’ve made pink sister friends (people living with cancer) that aren’t ever going to get that news so I do really appreciate it and I’m just going to go and grab life.”
