The pipeline of youth talent at Anfield is flowing freely again.

The club that gave football Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Trent Alexander-Arnold is producing young players in abundance. Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final gave many their heads and Liverpool won with teenagers Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns and James McConnell on the pitch.

By then, the hugely-impressive 20-year-old Connor Bradley had gone off, but 20-year-old Harvey Elliott, who is the fourth youngest player in the club’s history to make 100 appearances, and the 21-year–old Jarell Quansah were playing. Danns, who is the 18-year-old son of former Premier League defender Neil, must be pinching himself at his rapid rise and he only made his debut against Luton on Wednesday before making his second appearance at Wembley.

Such is the talent conveyor belt at Anfield, that there is plenty more where they came from. Jurgen Klopp’s true Liverpool legacy goes way beyond the eight trophies he has now won for the club and it extends into every aspect of the club.

Look at the transformation of Anfield under his reign and their state-of-the-art training facility at Kirkby. But it is the club’s academy, where his influence can really be felt. Klopp has fully integrated Alex Inglethorpe's academy and has them teaching his kids exactly how he wants Liverpool to play.

This helps their transition to the first team squad when they step up and they know how Klopp wants them to perform. If Liverpool cannot produce their own talent, they are pouncing, eagle-eyed for everyone else’s.

Take 16-year-old Treymaurice Nyoni. The midfielder was signed from Leicester in the summer and was on the bench at Brentford. He has rapidly ascended through the Under-18s into the Under-21s and is now knocking loudly on the first team door.

Then there’s 18-year-old Ben Doak, who was signed from Celtic, and who has already made 10 senior appearances. There is real excitement at Anfield that he is a star in the making, although his progress was halted by knee surgery in December.

Defender Owen Beck, 21, has impressed on loan at Dundee and he has made 27 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side. Lewis Koumas, 18, - son of Wigan and Tranmere star Jason - who was an unused substitute at Wembley, has yet to make his senior debut, but it seems only a matter of time for the forward.

Luke Chambers, 19, starred at Kilmarnock last season and is currently on loan at Wigan. Kaide Gordon, 19, cost £1million from Derby in February 2021 and has already made six appearances for the club since making his debut against Norwich in September 2021.

Defender Calum Scanlon, 19, made his debut against Toulouse and made his second appearance in the Europa League in December. Liverpool have other starlets out on loan and Hull landed Fabio Carvalho, 21, last month and the Portuguese cost £5million from Fulham two years ago.

Carvalho has already scored three times in his 13 Premier League appearances and looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Tyler Morton was already on loan at Hull and the midfielder has made 30 appearances this season for the Tigers.

Not all of these players will make it at Anfield, maybe only a few, but Liverpool can still look forward to making tens of millions in the transfer market from them because they have had the right education.
