Stylish shoppers have been clamouring to snag a coveted £12 luxury tote bag that is quickly selling out online.

Available at John Lewis and Waitrose, the Lulu Guinness Reusable Bag offers a cavernous interior and designer good looks paired with clever eco-friendly credentials. As a dedicated shopper who is never one to shy away from a bargain, I couldn't resist snapping up the luscious red lips and monochrome goodness of the Lulu Guinness tote bag for myself.

While the brand is usually celebrated for its chic yet accessible designer offerings, a Lulu Guinness handbag can easily cost more than £200. Big, bold and utterly beautiful, this limited edition Lulu Guinness Tote bag is an absolute steal at just £12.

The oversized bag of dreams is made entirely from recycled plastic bottles and comes adorned with the brand's signature monochrome stripes, a giant Lulu Red Lip motif and sturdy woven branded straps. It also features a red lip tag made from recycled bottle tops and the tote bag has an inside zip pocket that is perfect for keys, phones and other smaller items.

To my delight, the bag comes with super long shoulder straps as well as grab handles, making it easy to carry even when full and as a dedicated wearer of all shades of black, the monochrome design with bright flashes of red design works well with all my outfits.

Practical enough to fit plenty of shopping in, it's also roomy enough to chuck in a blanket, book and picnic for the park or trips to the gym.

Speaking about her collaboration with the upscale retailer, the designer herself said: "It’s not your usual tote bag, the design is in the detail. It’s designed to be super versatile and used as your grocery bag for life, but it's also your everything bag."

Shoppers who care about their environmental footprint will be interested to know that the bag is produced by an organisation that diverts problem plastics away from landfills and converts them into reusable products. Each bag is made from as many as 15 plastic bottles that are 100% sourced from post-consumer waste.

It's not just me who thinks this bag is pretty awesome either. With a stellar rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars on the John Lewis website, shoppers have been captivated by this super low-priced designer find.

One satisfied customer said: "I absolutely love this bag! It has two different types of handles, which is useful when the bag is full and can also be worn over the shoulder. The design is fabulous and perfect for beach outings. I've received numerous compliments. Well done, Lulu Guinness."

Another added "Received my bag after patiently waiting for it to come back in stock. It arrived well-packaged and larger than expected. I love it, very sturdy. Excellent service from John Lewis. It holds a lot, which is crucial for us ladies."

One lone buyer, however, was less than impressed with the size of the bag, stating "Very large bag, too stiff, had to return, just wish it had been smaller."

While the bag is currently out of stock at John Lewis, shoppers can still order from Waitrose.

If you are looking for something a little bit different, John Lewis also stocks the Building Happier Futures £12 Tote Bag in collaboration with the charity Who Cares, while fashion brand New Look has some adorable canvas tote bags available in a range of different designs.
