College student raped in supermarket car park with suspect 'caught red handed'
A young college student from the US was allegedly raped by a man who was apprehended 'almost red-handed' in a supermarket parking lot close to the popular nightclub Alcatraz in Milan.
After the reported rape early on Saturday morning, the victim — a 20-year-old American student — screamed for help, and nightclub bouncers saw her and reported the incident to the police. Local reports state that she was brought to the parking lot of a neighbouring Aldi supermarket after meeting the suspect at the club and having a few drinks.
According to La Repubblica, the unidentified suspect is an Italian college student of Egyptian descent who has never been in legal trouble before.

The American victim was enrolled in Erasmus, a program run by the European Union that allows students to travel and study abroad. It was not immediately clear which school she attended.
On Friday night, the suspect allegedly offered her a drink. Before the alleged incident occurred, the two conversed at the nightclub, according to local news website, iL Giornale. She was allegedly brought to the Aldi grocery parking lot, which is next to the club, by the suspect, who then attacked her.

The victim's screams were heard at around 2 am local time by onlookers and nightclub bouncers, who notified Alcatraz security. Local law enforcement officials claimed that the perpetrator was apprehended 'nearly red-handed' and charged with aggravated sexual assault.The 20-year-old woman was sent to the Mangiagalli Clinic, which specializes in finding evidence of abuse, and her health is still stable. She was shocked and traumatised, but she was able to tell the police what had happened.
With a maximum capacity of 3,000 people, Club Alcatraz, housed in a former warehouse in the heart of Milan, has grown to be one of the biggest and most well-liked clubs in the city.

"Another rape took place tonight in Milan, in Via Valtellina, where a girl was raped by a boy of foreign origin. By now it is a custom, unfortunately in the total disinterest of the mayor and the PD who administer the city," she wrote.
"Palazzo Marino’s attention to security is zero, despite the proclamations nothing is changing, from the centre to the suburbs." The unsettling event occurs in the wake of other shocking sexual assaults that have stoked the nation's anger and fueled the migrant issue in recent months.
Last week in Catania, on the Italian island of Sicily, a group of Egyptian migrants were accused of dragging a defenceless thirteen-year-old girl into a public restroom. Her frantic boyfriend was allegedly detained by the rest of the gang and had to witness the horror while two of the migrants, who were both adolescents, sexually assaulted her for 30 minutes.
The Interior Ministry reports that illegal migrant landings in Italy increased by 50% in 2022 compared to the previous year.
