Stephen Mulhern was forced to step in as Dec Donnelly was left wincing in pain after suffering an embarrassing blunder live on air.

The courageous TV host, 48, is known for braving some of the most terrifying challenges on national television, and tonight, the star took on another daring challenge for Saturday Night Takeaway.

Declan and his co-host Ant McPartlin returned to our screens again on Saturday night for another instalment of the weekend show. The show kicked off with the Geordie duo dressed in colourful suits on the rooftop of the studio where they were tasked with climbing two tall towers and pressing the buzzer on top first.

While the show got off to a smooth sailing start, things took a turn for the worst for Dec, who grimaced in pain after his harness pulled at his sensitive area.

The unfortunate incident left Stephen Mulhern concerned for his co-star. He remarked: "Oh he looks in pain" While Ant said: “Are you ok?" However, an out-of-breath Dec reassured his team that he was doing fine.

Elsewhere on the show fans were left in fits of giggles following a guest's surprise reaction after being pranked live on air. The woman named Maureen thought she was off for an evening with her family, but was left shocked after realising she was on the TV. As Maureen made her way from her taxi into the studio, she pulled her jacket off and tried to hand it to the hosts, leaving fans laughing.

One wrote: "Maureen thought she was going for a cheeky dinner and ends up being on a live show and getting a free holiday #saturdaynighttakeaway," whilst a second added: "I think Maureen is just a bit embarrassed. My mum would be mortified if I surprised her like that #SaturdayNightTakeaway." A third penned: "Maureen handing Dec her coat. What a queen. A fourth shared: "Maureen didn't seem that impressed by Ant #Saturdaynighttakeaway, and a fifth penned: "Maureen seems like a legend."

Ant and Dec have been joined at the hip since they shot to fame on Byker Grove, playing PJ and Duncan in the 1990s. On the back of their popularity, they then launched a music career before securing a lucrative and long-lasting TV hosting career.

They have fronted a number of shows including Britain's Got Talent, Push the Button, SMTV Live, I'm a Celebrity... and not to mention Limitless Win. In their joint book, Once Upon a Tyne: Our Story, which was released in 2020, they shared juicy secrets about their fallouts. One of which happened in Spain in 1995.
