A man was seen nonchalantly walking two camels down a busy high street in a wild video uploaded to social media.

The unusual sight occurred on Friday, February 23, on Newham High Street in London, with pictures and videos of the spectacle being shared online as members of the public were left stunned by the sighting. The mere sight of the animals on the busy east London road seemed to have caused many residents to stop and stare in disbelief.

Adding to the intrigue, the man riding one of the camels was also caught on camera singing, while individuals in tracksuits accompanied the hoofed mammals. This fuelled speculation that a music video might be being filmed. However, it's still unknown which song or artist might be involved. In the shared footage, the camels are shown strolling ahead of two London buses.

One of the camels is seen wearing a saddle and a red blanket, guided by its snout adorned with vibrant pom poms. The sight amused many social media users who couldn't believe their eyes. Local resident David O'Leary quipped on One X: "I'd have the right hump."

Meanwhile, Monega Primary School posted: "What's the most unexpected and interesting moment you've had in the area around your school? Camels on the high street definitely goes at the top of the list for us!"

Camels are usually found in sandy desert climates, but these camels appear to have traded the hot weather for London's unpredictable conditions. Under guidance from the Dangerous Wild Animals Act of 1976, members of the public have to request a licence from their local council to own a camel.

It comes after a similar incident in December last year when locals were left stunned after they spotted a camel being walked through a housing estate in London. The bizarre scenes were reportedly captured in Chingford, East London, and showed a woman with blonde hair carefully guiding it on the pavement. Residents in the area could be seen pulling startled faces as they watched on from their bedroom windows.
