A house is up for sale for the bargain price of £30,000 but buyers will be shocked to find a massive hole in the wall and another in the bedroom ceiling.

The two-bedroom terraced home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, is being sold at auction, but comes with a few issues, as well as the hole in the wall and the partially caved in ceiling, it no longer has flooring. It does come large bathroom, but that is filled with soil. There is also miscellaneous rubbish scattered throughout the house, so the new owner will almost certainly have to invest in a skip.

The description reads: “A larger than expected, 2 bedroom terraced home, in need of renovations throughout. To the ground floor there is a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and access to the cellar. Upstairs on the first floor is a spacious double bedroom and large family bathroom.

“Up a further stairway is the well-sized attic bedroom. To the rear of the property is a small enclosed garden, accessed via the kitchen. On-street parking is available on nearby side streets. Located in Cudworth, this property enjoys the perfect balance of community spirit and countryside serenity.

"The area boasts easy access to shops, essential amenities, and link roads, making it ideal for families or professionals. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes and yet close to the vibrant Barnsley centre, Cudworth offers a quality of life that is both peaceful and connected.”

The estate agent estimates that once renovated, the property could fetch a rental income of £700 a month, so this may also be a great investment opportunity. It is also worth noting that the bids will start from £30,000 at auction, and once sold, the buyer will have an additional administration fee of £1,200 and a buyer’s premium fee of £1,200 to pay.

That being said, the average house in the area sells for £179,924, so this very much remains a bargain. The property – which features on What'sTheJam – is set to go to auction on 18 March.
