Rod Stewart has hilariously revealed that wife Penny Lancaster has led the family on a more "righteous path" since becoming a special police constable.

The former model and TV presenter, 52, who married Rod in 2007, began volunteering with City of London Police after appearing in Channel 4 show Famous And Fighting Crime, in which celebrities swapped their day jobs with those of emergency service professionals. Penny later completed her training to become a special constable in April 2021.

Rod, 79, appeared on Friday's Loose Women alongside Jools Holland to discuss their album, Swing Fever, with Rod's wife Penny proudly sitting in the audience. Penny is a Loose Women regular and the panellists couldn't resist catching up with the star. Host, Kaye Adams, said: "Nice to see you Penny! How are you? We haven't seen you in ages, are you still policing?"

To which Penny replied: "Still policing! I was on as a guest a few weeks ago but I've been busy doing my other things. It's really lovely to be here in the audience to support my husband and Jools on their new album. Great to be here!" Kaye then asked Rod: "Is police officer Penny keeping you in line, Rod?"

To which the Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? hitmaker quipped: "Well, she's leading me and the boys down a more righteous path. Like when the boys are driving the car: 'Two hands on the wheel!'" It comes as Penny revealed last year that she was "tremendously proud and honoured" to have been part of the police force working for the King's coronation.

Talking on Good Morning Britain, Penny said at the time: "It was the most fabulous day and of course, tremendously proud and honoured to have been given that opportunity, along with the City of London Police, that I’m a special constable for. There were the regular officers and then the specials (on duty) and, of course, we volunteer our time to help with the duties of policing, and we were stationed on Whitehall, right opposite 10 Downing Street, just behind New Scotland Yard."

Penny also took to the streets of central London as part of the policing operation for the Queen’s funeral procession. The former model added at the time that she was "really, really proud of our royal family and the connection that they have around the world".
