Francis Ngannou brands Tyson Fury "a playboy" ahead of Anthony Joshua fight

Francis Ngannou has labelled Tyson Fury a "playboy" for his antics before their controversial crossover fight.

Former UFC champion Ngannou made his professional boxing debut against Fury last October and silenced his critics by putting on a stunning performance. Fury had to pick himself up off the canvas after Ngannou dropped him with a left hook and the Brit only won by a single point in a heavily scrutinised split decision.

Ngannou wants to ruin Anthony Joshua's plans of fighting for the undisputed world titles by picking up his first win in the ring when they fight in two weeks. Whilst comparing the personalities of Fury and 'AJ', Ngannou explained why Joshua's pre-fight nerves could be a good thing.

”Anthony Joshua never trash talks, his personality is more serious unlike Tyson Fury who is more like a playboy. I think when it comes to fighting, they both know how to fight and that’s what I’m focused on. He might have been nervous but that doesn’t mean anything, in fact I think being nervous means he is taking things very serious. It’s very important because he’s going to do his best to show up on the day with everything," Ngannou told Mirror Fighting.

Ngannou has questioned the resilience of Joshua as he doesn't think the Brit will be able to get up from a similar punch that Fury took in their fight. Joshua didn't make a knockout prediction for his crossover fight against Ngannou during their face-to-face interview and Ngannou thinks his rival is purposely being diplomatic.

“Refusing to say doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want one. I think that he’s just being sceptic. Even when you say it doesn’t mean it’s going to [happen]. I don’t usually fight looking for the knockout expect for one and it didn’t end well. The knockout is something that will come naturally, but based on the statistics or style they can assume it’s like going to end in a knockout. Overall, it’s not something you can guarantee because you don’t know what’s going to happen in the fight," he added.

Ngannou has called for a rematch against Fury if he gets past Joshua despite being promised an undisputed world title shot against Fury or Oleksandr Usyk. The 37-year-old admitted he isn't interested in fighting for belts because his status as a UFC champion delayed his exit from the promotion.
