Boy George has spoken out after being accused of "ripping off" Kylie Minogue.

The musician came under fire on social media after fans had noticed the similarities between the artwork for his single, Religion and Kylie's latest album, Tension. Boy George, 62, was criticised for his decision to use a similar style of artwork for his latest release but the backlash doesn't appear to have bothered him.

In both Boy George and Minogue's artwork, their faces have been tinted green while posing in front of a red and yellow background – with the same font also used. Minogue, 55, released Tension last year, compared to Boy George who released his single just last week.

One fan went as far as to question the former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star about his decision to pay "tribute" to Kylie's artwork on X, formerly Twitter. He responded: "I'm recycling everything. It's all the rage. Even fashion is catching on?" But when one social media user branded him an "a*****e", he instantly quipped back: "Or utter genius!"

Another furious fan of Aussie pop princess Kylie penned: "I know that every masterpiece has its cheap copy but what the hell is this?" While a third added: "Wait this is real?? I thought it was satire what." But one was quick to leap to the defence of the Karma Chameleon singer, replying: "It’s got to be him paying homage. Nothing more to it. I know we Kylie fans get protective but I like Boy George."

It comes after it was announced that Kylie would be receiving the BRIT Awards Global Icon gong at the ceremony taking place on March 2, which will also see her perform. Reacting to the news, Minogue said: "I am beyond thrilled to be honoured with the Global Icon Award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists. The UK has always been a home from home so the BRITs have a very special place in my heart. I have some amazing memories from the awards over the years and I can't wait to be back on the BRITs stage."

Meanwhile, it's reported that the superstar has been offered a "world first". Currently, the Locomotion hitmaker is in the middle of a Las Vegas residency – but she might never leave, Reports claim that Kylie has been given the option of a lifetime stint, meaning she can pick and choose whenever she wants to perform at The Venetian.
