Hilaria Baldwin has been accused of speaking with a fake Spanish accent for many years, which comes the Rust trial moves forward.

Alec Baldwin was rehearsing with a prop gun on the Rust film set when it fired a live round and killed the movie’s cinematographer, heads to trial in New Mexico. The 65-year-old Hollywood actor fired a prop gun while filming the movie Rust in October 2021, which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin insists the incident was an accident and said he was unaware the prop had live bullets loaded.

And now the trial is due to begin for the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. A grand jury indicted Alec Baldwin last month on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting. Alec has pleaded not guilty and will be tried separately later.

Back in 2012, she appeared on Good Morning America to chat about her marriage to Alec. "Married life is really nice. You know, it feels different. It really feels different. But I didn't think it was going to be different," she said on the show while speaking with a strong Spanish accent.

Then, a couple of years later she spoke on the Today show, with her appearing to struggle with English when she made gazpacho. And then, in 2018 she appeared on Today again to chat about motherhood - but it was this appearance that left fans questioning her accent.

Some fans couldn't decide whether she sounded Spanish or American. Speaking on the show she said: "It's not easy, and I think part of it is that I'm in shape before I have a baby and then I stay active when I'm pregnant. I'm not trying to stay thin. I'm just trying to keep my circulation going and stretching and keep my muscle tone up."

Then, in 2020, a social media user on the platform X, which was then called Twitter, shared an entire thread of videos that "proved" how Hilaria's accent was "fake". Responding to allegations in 2021, Hilaria said: "My parents raised my brother and me with two cultures, American and Spanish, and I feel a true sense of belonging to both.

"The way I've spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained—I should have been more clear and I'm sorry."

Then, in an interview with The New York Times, Alec's wife spoke about growing up and said that she was born in Boston before spending time in both Boston and Spain. This came to light despite Hilaria's talent agency having her birthplace listed as Mallorca.

"My family now lives in Spain. I moved to New York when I was 19 years old and I have lived here ever since," Hilaria continued to the paper.

"For me, I feel like I have spent 10 years sharing that story over and over again. And now it seems like it's not enough."
