The giant, glowing eye of Alton Towers' Nemesis creature has been spotted at one of the UK's most famous alien hotspots, Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. This area has been known for mysterious alien activity since the 1980s.

The floating seven-metre-wide eye signals the much-awaited opening of Nemesis Reborn, which Alton Towers Resort has confirmed will open on March 16.

Stunning drone footage and photos released today show the eerie scene at sunrise. Nemesis is coming back after a big makeover of the famous ride, loved by millions of thrill-seekers since it first opened thirty years ago.

Now called Nemesis Reborn, the entire 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track has been replaced and the beast that gives the ride its name has had a complete overhaul. The beast's eye, surrounded by sharp teeth, is brought to life with top-notch audio visual technology, showing its transformation into a predator.
