On the cusp of Elden Ring’s second anniversary since release, developer FromSoftware is finally ready to debut the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

If you’re wondering why Twitter is currently aflame with real-life versions of that Steve Carrell ‘It’s happening’ meme from The Office (US), it probably has something to do with the fact that the very first Elden Ring DLC trailer releases later today. Yes, nearly two years after the DLC was originally announced for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, the full reveal for Shadow of the Erdtree is almost upon us.

The news came by way of a post from the official @EldenRing Twitter account, which names the forthcoming first look as a “gameplay reveal trailer”, before revealing the official date and time of its release. As far as announcements for trailer reveals go, it’s very matter-of-fact. When you have a fan base frothing at the mouth the way Elden Ring players are, though, it’s certainly all that’s needed.

If you’re wondering where and how you can watch the Elden Ring DLC trailer in time for when it drops later today, and what to expect, we’ve got you covered.

Elden Ring DLC trailer – release time

The Elden Ring DLC trailer release time is 3pm GMT / 10am EST / 7am PST today, which means it goes live just an hour after the Nintendo Direct February 2024, so players will surely be eating well when it comes to fresh game announcements and reveals. A reply to the original Twitter post reveals that the Elden Ring DLC gameplay trailer will run for three minutes, which gives FromSoftware enough time to showcase a good chunk of new gameplay.

Elden Ring DLC trailer – how to watch

In the same Twitter post where it was announced, the developer confirmed that the Elden Ring DLC trailer will make its worldwide debut online via the official Bandai Namco Europe YouTube account. The link for this can be found here. If you’re unable to watch live when it goes out for whatever reason, rest easy knowing that the trailer will remain available to watch after it goes live. We'll also be reacting live to the Elden Ring DLC gameplay trailer over on the Mirror Gaming YouTube channel, which we'll embed below so that you can watch along with us!

Elden Ring DLC trailer – what to expect

The release of the first Elden Ring DLC trailer will surely satiate fans who have been waiting for yet another way to explore FromSoftware’s latest world since the base game was released in February, 2022. It’s still not yet known whether or not we’ll get a release date for Shadow of the Erdtree as part of the gameplay reveal trailer, but updates to the SteamDB backend and a leaked controller listing indicate that the DLC could launch sooner rather than later, sometime this year, so I wouldn't rule out a release date reveal.

In terms of the content of the DLC itself, not much is known about what it’ll contain outside of that initial image we received back when the initial Elden Ring DLC teaser image arrived a year ago, when Shadow of the Erdtree was first announced. We expect that it’ll take place on the same map, with at least a new region to explore, since the initial tease came with a brief promise that saw the developer state “We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between”. It being a gameplay trailer, too, indicates that we’ll get to see any fresh mechanics play out in real time. At least we won't have to speculate as to what the trailer will contain for much longer.
