With the evergrowing popularity of 'booktok' and 'bookstagram' there seems to always be a new book everyone you know insists you absolutely have to read. Whether it's a quote, an influencer screaming into a proof copy covered in coloured sticky tabs or an aesthetic video insisting this is the perfect read if you like dark academia, a lot of us are falling victim to a 'to be read' pile 100 books deep after slipping onto Instagram.

Books don't always have to be expensive, but when you've slipped and accidentally found yourself running to Goodreads to add 10 books to your shelves in as many minutes that can be a little daunting. Luckily there's a way to read a lot of those books you're hearing about online for less: Kindle Unlimited.

Kindle Unlimited gives you access to millions of ebooks instantly that you can read across a number of devices, your phone, kindle, laptop or tablet - anything with the Kindle app. You are only allowed to take out 20 books at a time, which can be tricky with the ever growing list of must reads, but it's rare you'll be reading 21 at the exact same time. Don't worry of you want to access your notes and highlights afterwards, you can take the book out anytime and get them back from the cloud.

If you're not already on Kindle Unlimited you have two options, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial after which it will cost £9.49 a month afterwards. Or you can get your first two months for £3.99 before it goes up to £9.49 a month.

Once you start paying for your subscription, if you're reading often you quickly save money on books. Lucy Score's Knockemout trilogy recently came to a conclusion with Lucien's story Things We Left Behind, each book would cost £5.49 to buy the e-book but when reading them with Kindle Unlimited, if you were to read them all in one month, you would be saving almost £7.

There are hundreds of series to dive into, from viral hits to classics you haven't got round to reading. If you finally want to tuck into Charles Dickens, Mary Shelley or Homer it's a great way to read. When reading on a Kindle, or Kindle app, if you come across a word you're not familiar with you can simply hold it to get a definition up which can make for a more seamless reading experience of books from other time periods.

It's not just books though, you can get your hands on many different magazine subscriptions all included in your one simple Kindle Unlimited subscription, for avid readers it's never been easier to share recommendations and join book clubs that are juggling multiple books.

You can read off apps on your phone or other devices but the Kindle devices glare-free screen and catered to reading experience are popular for a reason. If you don't know which Kindle is best for you then take a look at our guide. Kobo is another ebook platform allowing readers to indulge in unlimited ebooks from £8.99 per month.
