Kagney Linn Karter died at age 36 by suicide.

The porn star's friends were deeply heartbroken and put together a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of the funeral service with any additional funds going to an animal shelter. Immediately, tributes began to pour in with one person writing: "May you find the peace in heaven that you didn’t have on Earth."

According to Rachel and Megan, the owners of a fitness studio that Kagney frequented, their friend had been struggling with her mental health for a while. Kagney, despite her difficulties, was known as a light among their community. She was last seen by them on February 7 before taking her own life in her Ohio home.

They explained: "Unfortunately, despite all of her many impressive accomplishments and talents, Kagney struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by. Even in her darkest days, however, she still showed up to the studio, always ready to learn, contribute, better herself in whatever small way she could manage."

Taking inspiration from Rachel and Megan's pole studio, Kagney eventually launched her own business. She also used her social media as a way to share the work she'd do to express herself through pole dancing. "We saw her revel in the happiness of animals, glow as she sang to her Instagram audience, shared in her elation when nailing a new pole trick," they wrote.

The GoFundMe page quickly met its goal, receiving nearly double the requested $8,000 (£6,300). Among those who donated were the team at Brazzers, a porn website and production company, who donated a hefty $2,000 (£1,581) in support of the adult actress who appeared on the in some of their videos.

A fan of Kagney's wrote: "Never had the privilege of meeting Kagney however as a follower on Instagram she was always a ball of sunshine and no matter the issue she was radiantly motivating. Sorry for your loss. I know it's not much but I hope this small amount helps out."

Another added: "You brought a lot of people joy with your personality. I hate that you’re gone, but glad that everything that troubled you will no longer do so."
