Locals are kicking up a stink after a council blocked a stunning sea view with a large dog poo bin.

They claim the bin has been plonked right in front of a favourite bench in Cornwall - ruining views of the beach. People are now trying to get it moved urgently and bring back the natural beauty of the scene. The bin was put in front of the bench on Pennance Point, which looks over Swanpool Beach in Falmouth.

A local woman said she was shocked when she saw the bin between Gyllyngvase and Swanpool beaches. She said: "The magnificent view from a bench overlooking Pennance Point and Swanpool beach has a new addition; a dog bin, of the bigger variety, placed smack in the eye-line, thanks to Cornwall Council’s busywork department.

"Now people walking on the coast path can look at the chunky lines of the bin at their leisure; that's pretty much all they can see from this memorial bench and one-time viewpoint. Good job, lads!" The issue has been taken up by town councillor Jude Robinson who has asked Cornwall Council to move it. She contacted the network manager who she says has promised will get back to her when she returns from leave.

In the meantime she is asking people upset by where the bin has been placed to contact her so she can pass on their complaints to the council or they can contact the council themselves on its feedback page, reports Bristol Live.

Jude explained: "The reason the big bin was put there in the first place is because there was a smaller bin and people kept vandalising it. We've all had enough of dog poo thrown everywhere - so it was put up with good intention. It has divided people a bit which is a shame. It is a tribute bench too, so if you sit on that bench and all you can see is the bin, I get it."

"But some say it doesn't matter at all where it is. I took this photo last week from one of the benches on the coast path and sent to Cornwall Council asking if they would move the bin. The views from the coast path are fabulous and should be protected so that people can just sit and enjoy them. I hope that people who agree will contact me to support that or Cornwall Council and ask for it to be moved just a few feet away. I've offered to help with re-siting."
