Madonna narrowly avoided serious injury after falling off a chair during her sell-out gig in Seattle.

The 65-year-old took a tumble during the latest stop on her Celebration Tour, while performing her 1986 Open Your Heart at the city’s Climate Pledge Arena over the weekend. Footage on social media shows the pop icon sitting on the chair as it was being dragged across the stage backwards by a backing dancer, who was wearing sky-high heels.

The crowd gasped as he stumbled prompting the chair to fall to the floor, with Madonna hitting the stage with a bump. However, the award-winning singer laughed off the incident, and could be seen rolling across the floor giggling as she was helped up by her other backing dancers. Ever the professional, Madge managed to continue singing her song, before standing up to finish her musical number.

Her fans were relieved she escaped serious injury, and many flocked to Twitter/X to praise the Queen of Pop for her unwavering commitment to the gig.

“Madonna took a little fall on stage tonight in Seattle. She was a good sport about it. It was a great show,” one tweeted. “Queen behavior. Nothing can keep madonna down!” another added. “Showtime, glad no one broke a leg,” a third chimed in. “Maybe having a man in high heels dragging you in a chair on stage wasn't a good idea? Someone is getting fired,” another added.

But many eagle-eyed fans pointed out that Madonna may have been lip-syncing during the song, as when she fell off the chair and initially stopped singing, the track kept going. “Did you see when she fell, she stopped singing for 2 seconds ish, but the song was still playing. Oops,” one noted. “And the voice of Madonna kept right on singing, even though Madonna was laughing uncontrollably,” another quipped.

This isn’t the first time Madonna has taken an epic tumble on stage. Back in 2015, she famously fell down stairs onstage at the BRIT Awards while performing Living for Love after her cape became tangled. “Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I’m fine!” she assured fans after the fall.

Madonna’s Celebration Tour almost didn’t happen after the singer was hospitalised in June last year with a life-threatening bacterial infection. She was forced to postpone her world tour while she recovered, and during her recent concert in Brooklyn, she thanked the doctors and nurses who treated her. “It’s a miracle that I’m alive. I feel like I’m one of the lucky ones. … Let’s take a moment to be grateful,” she told the crowd.
