James Tarkowski's 'terrible' display in a new TV show has seen football fans calling on Everton to have more points deducted by the Premier League.

The Toffees defender and his partner Samantha are one of several couples starring in the upcoming Amazon Prime docu-series Married To The Game, which details the behind-the-scenes lives of footballer's WAGs. The likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jorginho and Ilkay Gundogan - alongside their respective partners - are featured in the show, but a teaser clip of Tarkowski has seen supporters take aim at the ex-Burnley man.

In a clip uploaded to social media by Amazon Prime, the 31 year-old tells Samantha she looks "especially" gorgeous, before nervously nodding in agreement when she praises him for knowing "how to be a husband".

Needless to say, the toe-curling chat - the kind you'd expect not from a happily married Premier League footballer but rather a 15 year-old outside the school gates - has been torn to shreds.

"This is a dry as a conversation on Love Island. Why is Tarkowski so awkward they're literally married," one fan wrote on Twitter, clearly unhappy with the delivery from the big defender.

Another said: "Well this is the most awkward thing you'll see today," while a third joked: "Give Everton another points deduction for this that's woeful. He has zero game."

Everton were given a 10-point penalty by the Premier League in October for breaking the Profit and Sustainability rules. The club have challenged this decision and are now waiting for the outcome, which could be made public this week.

Tarkowski moved to Everton from Burnley in 2022. He's been a key player in the Toffees' defence and has been one of the most reliable players during the tenure of Sean Dyche - his former boss at Turf Moor.

He started his career at Oldham before joining Brentford in 2013. Two years later, Burnley signed him and he helped the club get promoted to the Premier League in his first season at Turf Moor. He played his first game for England in 2018.
