Disney+ has become a must-have streaming service filled with TV series, documentaries, and films from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar creators but the price fans pay for its popular content has gone up significantly for 2024. Here's how you can avoid it.

Those who buy a one-year Disney+ plan upfront will save just under £30 compared to if they took out a pay monthly subscription. On the premium plan you would pay £109.90 a year compared to the £131.88 if split at £10.99 per month. The same can be said for the £79.90 standard plan which works out to be £95.88 a year if you pay the £7.99 a month instead.

Forking out on a swanky new Samsung phone is another way to ditch the fees, as the tech brand will give all Galaxy S24 shoppers a 12-month subscription for FREE when they buy a new handset. A huge money-saving tip if you need a new phone upgrade anyway.

It's a popular freebie handed out by mobile retailers with O2 shoppers able to claim a six-month free subscription with any pay-monthly O2 SIM, which is more affordable compared to the Samsung deal above.

If the O2 SIM-free Disney+ deal sounds good for you then you do have to pick a specific plan - the Plus Plan SIM-only deal. This includes £22.99 a month 150GB plan and£27.99 a month unlimited data plan. There are also six months of free Disney+ available to add on its 250GB SIM-only plan but at £25 a month.

Here's how to get a free Disney+ subscription as plans reach £109.90Depending on when your Disney+ annual plan renews you will receive a price hike email

At the end of last year, the site joined the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime to up its subscription fees with a new £10.99 Premium plan, which upped the price of its usual standard features. This meant users either had to downgrade from 4K Ultra High Definition Quality to the lesser 1080p Full HD to pay the same £7.99 monthly rate or up their costs.

And as previous annual subscription holders' plans come to an end many are facing the new hiked prices, as the premium plan has upped from £80 a year to £109.50. Those who were locked into an annual plan in 2023 avoided the upped rates but they are now coming into effect.

Like our own team member Narin who's annual plan will rise from the past £80 to £109.90 as they automatically get boosed up to the new premium plan pricing this March 2024. As Disney+ shared the subscription update the email states: "We are updating our prices so we can keep bringin you brand new Originals, the latest blockbuster movies and most loved binge-worthy series.

"From 24 March 2024 the price of your Disney+ Premium subscripion will increase to £109.90 per year." This exact date will depend on when each viewer took out their previous annual plan as the new prices come into effect from individual renewal dates.

Subscribers can switch off the auto renew if they don't want to continue with their plan, something Narin has done despite being a fan of the streaming site. She said: "As long time fans of not just Disney classics but also Marvel and Star Wars, it was a no brainer for us to sign up to an annual membership when the service launched in 2020.

"Yesterday I got an email saying the price was going to go up to £110 at the point our next renewal drops in at the end of March and I just don't think I can justify it anymore. The first year it cost £50, then £60 and then for 2022 and 2023 we paid around £80 which, while expensive, felt like a good deal when the entire family watches it so regularly.

"But £110 is way too expensive for us so I've gone in and switched off auto-renewing for now. Maybe we'll sign up again for a month or two over the summer holidays to binge watch what we've missed instead. With prices going up everywhere we've also recently cancelled Netflix and will hop between streaming services instead of having more than one at the same time."
